Charming and Whimsical, this lovely scarce violet transferware Staffordshire large platter dates 2nd quarter Circa 1830-1850. It is an early Spode platter with Spode incised simply on the back. The back is beautifully illustrated too, with a lovely design which describes the pattern on the platter as "Aesops Fables, The Dog in the Manger". Scarce in color, theme, and age, this lovely violet transerware platter will be a lovely focus piece of art for any home, too precious to serve on.
The Spode Platter measures 18.5 by 14" and is in excellent condition. This charming scarce platter along with the other lovely pieces of transfer ware I am listing are from the estate of a lifetime collector of early transferware and scarce historic pieces.
Shipping will be $70 for specialty packaging. If it is more, we will absorb the cost in the US to get this rare platter to you safely.
