This poker case is really pretty in rich deep marbled red that has retained its color. The case is Catalin Bakelite and features slots for chips and 2 packs of cards. The rack is filled to brim with period chips, mostly colorful plastic with a few Dennison paper chips as pictured. The set is in very fine condition as pictured and ready for a game. For your information: Bakelite and Catalin are different plastics, but are both commonly referred to as Bakelite. All of the "Bakelite" jewelry that you see is actually Catalin. Bakelite was generally only used for electrical appliances, handles on pots and coffee pots, etc. because it will not melt. Bakelite/Catalin exposed to open flames will only char. Sunlight causes the Catalin to yellow or "petina" and it shrinks over time. Bakelite was invented in 1907 and Catalin came in 1928. The use these plastics for everyday items were not used much after WWII dating Catalin from 1928 to1945
