Scarce and lovely, this cape closure brooch was originally stitch attached to the coat or cape as a closure brooch. It dates late 19th to very early 20th century and is probably Bohemian (Czechoslovakia) in origin. My mother was a doll and costume designer (dolls). This was part of her collection (Harriet Free Collection) gathered to be used on a large doll period costume.
It is beautifully made with paste/early rhinestone accents on a gold filled layered leaf mount. Closure is complete and rings for mounting are intact. The classic Neo Classic - Art Nouveau influence is there in the chain swags. This truly is a lovely antique closure brooch measuring 3 inches wide with a 3.5" drop. Such a stunning accent to any coat or cape.
