Dating early 20th century, in absolutely classic Hattie Carnegie Style. I personally attribute this costume brooch pin to Carnegie, but the quality and design are indisputable regardless of the maker. Prior to 1939 Hattie Carnegie's creations were often unmarked as her interest in design was focused on dress design. She used the jewelry to compliment her clothing designs. After her husband encouraged her, she officially began her jewelry line in 1939. After which, she was much more intent on marking her designs.
Her style is fairly unique except for the work of Robert' who worked with and under her before striking out on his own. This brooch pin is beautifully layered upon the classic HC openwork mount, piled with amazing beautiful quality iridescent Austrian crystal stones. The costume brooch features the use of white and grey costume pearls as major accents, again a Hattie Carnegie classic characteristic. The large swag pendant matches and compliments this lovely heirloom brooch. This is part of the Harriet Free Collection. Condition is very fine as pictured. The brooch measures 3.25" long by 1 5/8" diameter.
