Early 20th Century Circa 1920s, this lovely all original wicker Heywood Wakefield baby carriage is in wonderful condition. It has its original wicker in fine condition, original paint with some wear, original mirror windows on the adjustable buggy cover, rubber wheels and working brake. This baby carriage was exhibited from 2000 until we took it out of the museum after her passing as it had been moved to storage for lack of display room. The museum id tag is #76HF 4-26-00.

Heywood Wakefield is one of the finest names in American Heirloom and antique wicker carriages and furnishings. It originally came new with a paper label but is immediately recognizable as one of their early 20th century models, exact in detail to other carriages found with the label still attached. It fits a small toddler and is wonderful for a toddler size doll.
It measures 36" overall, 27" carriage itself, 36" high to hood and 15" wide.

I will take it to a specialty packaging company who I have worked with for years as I want it to arrive in this fine condition. I have to put in a shipping estimate but shipping, packaging and insurance will be quoted at cost for your approval after agreeing to purchase. I am offering it at a very fair price as I know that shipping and packaging will be extra.

The Harriet Elberson Free Doll & Toy Museum Collection Provenance:

When our mother decided to take on a new interest, she jumped in 150%! She lived it, breathed it, mastered it. As a child who had a limited childhood, she was drawn to antique dolls and toys. For years, she went to antique shops, antique shows, flea markets, private sales treasure hunting, collecting antique dolls, toys, antique jewelry, lace, ribbon and cloth. She had made dolls earlier, of the crocheted or cloth variety, and also for years had a small ceramic shop as a hobby. Very gifted, detail oriented, the collection filled her home before being put on loan to the museum in historic Deer Lodge where she lived most of her adult life.

She was a superb seamstress and after instruction became a master doll artist herself. She used the antique jewelry, laces, ribbons, and accessories to complete her dolls and to restore original antique doll outfits. Her collection of antique, vintage and replica dolls along with antique and vintage toys and teddy bears has been displayed since 2000 in the Powell County Historic Museum in Deer Lodge Montana. Her large collection is housed in Yesterdays Playthings, one of the original historic prison administration buildings and is on display from May until the fall. The museum tells us that over 50,000 view the collection and the old prison museum complex each year. Her legacy is a great support for the community of Deer Lodge. Her collection is numbered with a tag and with red dots.

These dolls and strollers offered here were removed from the museum shortly before and after her passing as they were her favorites. Their sale will help to preserve the large collection that remains in the museum as her legacy to Montana. The jewelry is the remaining collection of antique and vintage jewelry hand picked for use on her antique and replica dolls.
