PS Lynch Original Signed Bronze Sculpture "Intent On Its Prey"
To close the estate, we have been instructed to offer this outstanding sculpture at a hugely reduced, well below market price.
The title of this gorgeous Liver Patina Bronze Sculpture depicting the sleek head of a mountain cougar is "Intent on His Prey". The artist numbered this one #3/40 although it was his first successful sculpture in the edition. No others were made from this casting. The artist used this scale model original to create a much larger version for Washington University who commissioned his work after seeing this original. The mascot of the University is a Cougar but the liver bronze and look is much more of a black panther. This bronze is absolutely stunning and sits on a large polished black marble and wood base. The plaque bears the title "Intent on Its Prey" and the artist, Patrick Sims Lynch.
This Cougar (or Panther) Bronze Sculpture with scarce and fine 'Liver Patina" is in excellent condition. It is signed and copyrighted 1983 on the back of the head. The statue measures 12 inch high overall, with a 4" high by 10.5 by 7.5" wide base. The sculpture measures 8 inches high, 14 inches long and 9" wide. I don't have to go into huge detail about the beauty and quality of this stunning piece of art as its quality will shout through the pictures.
This sculpture is from the artist's personal estate collection. Patrick Sims Lynch was member of a prominent pioneer family. He was born on May 14, 1932, in Spokane, Washington. His father Joseph w. Lynch, M.D. pioneered Neurological Surgery in the Northwest. His son followed his father's footsteps and became a noted Neurological Surgeon and author. He passed away in Eugene, Oregon on January 28, 1998.
His talented hands turned to art sculpting for relaxation. He would do studies on the animal he was sculpting in the wild to catch its essence, which is readily perceived in the finished work. Sculpting for his own enjoyment, his talent was readily recognized and commissioned. This Liver Patina Cougar Limited Edition was commissioned for the Washing State University in the 1980s (Cougars). Each piece is either the first or his artist proof from his own collection. Each collection is very small, as he was a humble and unassuming man who had no interest in fame. The talent of this artist who is now gone from us flows from the five bronzes we are privileged to present from his estate.
