This antique badge is circa 1890's, and would make a perfect addition to any set or collection! Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity was founded at the University of Alabama in 1856, and is still widely known throughout the country today. The 14k yellow gold pin is fashioned in a diamond shape and features a black enamel center. The center displays the Greek letters above an image of Minerva with a lion. The bottom bears a white enamel wreath surrounding the Phi Alpha Greek letters. This black enamel center is framed by a luxurious border of genuine pearls, adding sophistication and definition. The pearls are securely mounted in the polished face and have a nice shine. The back of the pin has a smooth, polished finish which is perfect for engraving with a personal inscription! This pin is fitted with a hinge pin and open bullet clasp. There is some light surface wear on the back, as can be expected with any vintage piece. This pin has been professionally tested for 14k gold purity composition.
