Cherish a lovely piece of yesteryear with this exquisite antique brooch! Dating from the Victorian Era circa 1850?s-1860?s, this 14k yellow gold brooch features seed pearls and Taille d?Epargne detailing. A decorative embellishment used in jewelry of the 18th century, Taille d?Epargne is a technique in which engraved designs in the metal are filled in with enamel. In this brooch, an engraved Celtic-style design is filled in with black and white enamel to contrast with the sheen of the yellow gold. As is typical of previously owned piece of vintage provenance, some of the enamel is missing, but this flaw detracts little from the beauty of the brooch. The center of the brooch features a belt and buckle design with five small seed pearls adorning a belt loop. Pitting on the buckle gives it a textured gold look, while the belt is bordered in milgrain gold. The back of the brooch contains a hook so that the piece can be attached to a chain of your choosing. A pin and hinged clasp replace the original clasp. In beautiful condition, this beautiful Victorian brooch would make a wonderful addition to a collection of antique jewelry. The brooch?s 14k gold purity composition has been professionally tested and verified.
