This badge features a crescent with a snake coiled around it and between the horns of the crescent is a book that has a black enameled center with a gold Iota. The snakes are quite detailed (especially their heads) and this badge is fully jeweled, set with pearls and emeralds. The back of the badge is engraved "6122, C.W.S." Iota chapter is located at Syracuse and was founded in 1899. This uses an older style T-bar pin into a barrel clasp. This dates it to 1899-1905. I believe this man to be the 6122nd member of the fraternity on a national level.
This badge measures 15mm (5/8") tall and weighs in at 2.8 grams.
I guarantee this badge to be 18k gold as tested - this is quite rare for fraternity / sorority badges. The pin and clasp are in excellent original an
