Much more than a mere way to tell time, this Retro watch is a work of art! Dating from circa 1950's - 1960's, this Marathon watch features a 17-jewel movement, a case of 14k rose gold adorned with genuine rubies and natural diamonds, accents of 14k white gold, and a 14k rose gold crown. The case is trapezoidal in shape and encloses a brushed gold face with the hand mechanism and hour marks in black. The brand name, Marathon, is seen above the hand mechanism and the words 17 Jewels appear above the half-past mark. Asymmetrical in design, one side of the case showcases three rubies set horizontally above a tear-drop adorned with diamonds, while the other side displays two rubies set vertically in a ribbed semi-circle embellished with two diamonds. A square bezel containing a single diamond accent completes the case. Altogether, the rose-pink rubies carry .36 carat total weight, while the single cut diamonds carry .05 carat total weight. Smoothly polished on all surfaces, the watch case leads to a band composed of double chains with closely aligned serpentine links. The chains flex gracefully for a comfortable fit on the wearer's wrist and close with a fold-over clasp of polished rose gold. In excellent condition, the watch has been recently serviced and tested for accuracy.
This watch weighs 21.3 grams. The band measures 5/32" (4.2 mm) wide, and the interior of the band measures 7" long. The face is 19/32" (14.6 mm) wide (not including the crown).
