This rare Kappa Alpha Society fraternity members key is engraved with the name "Frank J. Oehlschlaeger." The Cornell website lists this man as being from the class of 1933. "'33 BS Hotel--Frank J. Oehlschlaeger of Sarasota, FL, September 1, 2005; art gallery owner; manager, Marshall Field's fine art dept.; hotel manager; active in community, professional, religious, and alumni affairs." The back side of the key has a coffin with the sun rising behind, V.C. below, a black enameled globe to one side and a field of stars to the other. The front side features the Greek letters surrounded by symbols and Hebrew letters on either side. The is some wear and loss to the black enamel on this larger KA key as shown in the photographs. The bail is solid, but has some wear and I detect that it has been repaired at one point. This is a working watch key and has a square opening a the bottom of the stem. These do not come along very often as this is a smaller national fraternity.
This badge measures 1 3/4" (44.4mm) tall, 15/16" (23.8mm) wide and weighs 8.8 grams.
