TDX was founded at Union College in 1847 as the sixth Greek-letter fraternity founded at Union and the 11th "secret" fraternity to be organized.
The badge features a shield of gold with a black enameled surface displaying the Greek letters surmounted by two five pointed stars set with genuine old single cut diamonds; below are two crossing arrows. A blue enameled border frames the raised center portion. The badge is framed by 18 seed pearls. The back is engraved C. S. Hynes Pi Delta '23. The back is also marked with swords on either side of an open book and is fitted with a pin and clasp.
This badge weighs 5.5 grams. The piece measures 21/32" (17.1mm) long and 19/32" (14.9mm) wide.
