This offering is for a gorgeous sterling silver 1940's Scimitar & Scabbard chatelaine brooch that is 4 1/8" long with a weight of 45.8 grams. It was produced by the Urie Mandle Co. in New York City. Urie Mandle's son Robert also became a very popular jewelry designer. The brooch is featured in Brunialti's reference, "American Costume Jewelry, Art and Industry, 1935-1950" on p. 237. This presentation features a burgundy guilloche enameled scabbard that is decorated with turquoise glass beads, faux garnets and clear sparkling rhinestones. The silver tone link chains are attached to both the scabbard and the scimitar. The backs of both pieces have pins & roll over clasp that function well. The scimitar features a fleur de lis shaped handle. It is decorated with a large emerald cut faux ruby, clear rhinestones and two turquoise beads. The back of the handle has an oval shaped plaque that is marked "STERLING…PAT. PEND. Patina has developed over the years which I've preserved. I leave the decision to polish to the new owner. The condition of the chatelaine brooch is immaculate. There is no damage or wear on the enamel and all the stones are original with none missing. All the rhinestones still sparkle brightly without any discoloration. It is extremely difficult to find this brooch, most especially in this exceptional condition. Please contact me if you have any questions. Domestic shipping by First Class Insured USPS mail is all inclusive with your purchase. Thank you for your visit and for taking time to learn more about the designer brooch and view the photos.
