This offering is for a fabulous example of 50’s Atomic Age Jewelry. The demi-parure consists of a large figural brooch with matching clip earrings. This is a very interesting brooch that consists of faceted crystals prong set on the tops of numerous beige and burgundy colored spikes. The design could be that of an exploding starburst or as a representation of swirling atoms. Considering the double row of folded frosted acrylic “petals, the brooch may represent a mode modern flower. The colorful sparkling spikes may represent the cluster of stamens in the center of the flower. Many fanciful designs of Atomic Age jewelry can lead to a variety of interpretations. This set certainly calls on our imagination—kind of like the psychological Rosch test. The back of the brooch has a bright gold-tone grill that covers the disc beneath it. It appears that the spikes are attached to the concealed disc. Size: 2 1/2” diameter x 1 1/8” height. The 1 1/8” wide earrings match the design of the brooch. One of the earrings is marked “PAT” followed by numbers that I’m unable to clearly identify. You may have better luck. If so, the patent number would most likely name the designer. This set was never worn and is in absolutely pristine condition. Simply wonderful, the set is fully guaranteed to meet ll of your expectations. Please contact me if you have any questions.
