This c. 1908 postcard is the earliest version of the lost Santa Claus standing at a crossroad sign. This Santa wears a regal colorful robe with many gilt details. He stares at the sign with a look of uncertainty. His wood sled is highly decorated and full of gifts, period toys and a Christmas tree. The steep hill in the background is snowy & has a realistic appearance. The dark blue sky is full of twinkling stars. The back has serious browning near its bottom edge and lighter browning on the rest of the back. The front has light colored postal marks that have bled through from the back, round corners and a scrape on an upper corner. The condition is fair, but the graphics are rare and make the postcard worthwhile to add to a collection.
