Rare WWII British and American Ambulance Corps Pin by Silson Thus offering is for an historical WWII British and American Ambulance Corps Pin that was made by the Silson Co. This historical pin carries the patent number 122211 and was issued on August 1940. The shield shaped piece is done in gold plated base metal. It is enameled red, white and blue in vertical columns and has detailed gold plated wings that extend on both sides from the center. The size is 2 1/8” high x 2” wide and is signed “SILSON Pat Pend.” Silson produced a number of patriotic pins during WWII. This particular pin was produced with its purpose being to raise funds to finance the Ambulance Corps, responsible for rescuing and giving emergency care to the injured. This pin is very difficult to find. It is a book piece found in the Brunialti reference “A Tribute to America”, pp. 57-58. The pin is in very good condition for its age, showing slight enamel loss and wear on the gold plated pin’s back. The pin is an excellent example of patriotic jewelry used for the purpose of supporting the war relief. Please contact me if you have any questions. FREE Domestic Shipping by USPS First Class Mail.
