PERFECTION PLUS CORO CRAFT 1943 GOLD PLATED STERLING “THOROUGHBREDS” DUETTE This listing is for the “piece de resistance” of all duette pieces designed and patented by Adolph Katz. It is the 1943 Coro Craft horse head duette in gold plated sterling silver with bright sparkling pink, turquoise and clear rhinestones. This 1943 pair of stunning bright shiny gold plated sterling silver duette horse head fur clips by Adolf Katz for Coro Craft is in fabulous condition with only a hint of surface wear. These beauties are shown in Brunialti’s book “American Costume Jewelry” Vol.1, p. 137 and described as the “Thorobreds” Duette. Unlike most of these rarely found duettes, the gold plated finish is bright and shiny with only extremely minor wear showing. The stones are all present and even the black enamel accenting is pretty much intact. The horse heads measure approx 2 ¼” x 1” each; and together on the duette pin the piece measures approx 2 ¼” x 2 ¼”. One of the horse heads is stamped “Coro Craft” “Sterling’ in rectangle cartouche. Both fur clip backs are stamped “sterling’; and the duette pin back is stamped “Coro Craft”, “sterling”, and “pat. No. 179886”. This creation is hardly ever offered as a complete duette and only very rarely in such immaculate condition. A wise choice and great fun to wear — heads turn, questions follow and compliments are many.
