This offering is for the delightful cross limbed 17” baby doll wearing her original dress and challis wool coat, known as “Hilda’s Baby Sister” because they look so much alike. This gorgeous doll is also known as "Baby Jean." BISQUE HEAD: This sweetheart has a solid dome with brush stroke painted hair. Since solid dome Kestner dolls never had a mold number she is marked “JDK Made in 12 Germany” at the base of her neck. This baby’s bisque swivel head is free of all damage and has never had restoration. The head is comprised of desirable light colored smooth bisque with perfect natural blushing. The crisp facial features include feathered baby eyebrows, beautiful blue stationary eyes, delicately painted upper and lower lashes, and an open mouth with a tremble tongue and two upper teeth. Most of her original mohair lashes are still present. BODY: The correct composition cross limbed body is in excellent condition with its original finish. The only imperfection is that there is minor flaking on one shoulder blade. The area was reinforced some time in the past. All of the fingers and toes are present and the nail beds are outlined with red paint. At the time the doll’s body was manufactured, the torso was cut in half. The tape shows where the body was cut in order to install the crier mechanism. The original screen over the crier is located on the baby’s back. AND, the good news is that the crier mechanism still works consistently when baby is laid down on her back. COSTUME: Baby Jean wears what is her original costume, including her dress, challis wool coat and lace bonnet. She wears a white sleeveless cotton dress with a full skirt. It is closed on the back with two small mother-of-pearl buttons. The condition is very good with no rips, tears, holes or mends, but there are a few “rust” colored stains present. Each arm hole has a small stain on the back of the dress. There is also a small stain on the front neckline which is the only one that shows. Overall, the dress is in very good condition, especially considering its age. Dolly also wears a beautiful light weight challis wool coat for springtime. The cuffs and front of the coat are finished with machine made embroidery with a clover pattern and scallop shaped edges. The coat is extremely pretty and adds to the elegance of this special baby’s appearance. Unfortunately the moths have had their way with the coat leaving multiple holes of varying sizes on the its back. The front portions and sleeves also have tiny holes, but there are fewer and they are more difficult to see because of the natural folds. Baby, of course, wears a vintage silk cotton diaper under her clothing which isn’t original. There is also a very delicate lacy bonnet which may be original since the fit is so perfect, but I'm not certain. This pretty baby needs to find a new home with a new “Mommy” and new playmates. Sweet and beautiful as can be, she is fully guaranteed to meet all of your expectations. Dolly will be shipped by free USPS Fully Insured Standard Mail. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. If you are considering a layaway plan, she is approved for a payment plan lasting as long as 3-4 months. A 40% deposit is required at the time a purchase order is placed. Equal payments are to be made during the remainder of time for the layaway.
