This offering is for an art deco crystal octagon shaped salt made by Heinrich Hoffman in Czechoslovakia during the 1920’s - 1930’s. The theme of this rare salt is that of Polo Players riding horses during a tournament. The intaglio detail is incredible—so much more amazing than the photos show. Both players are depicted riding horses on the grounds, with the ball & flowers beneath the horses. The actions of both riders and horses is clearly shown. Hoffman’s tiny frosted butterfly mark is present in a bottom corner. The salt has no damage or restoration and is in excellent original condition. This rare piece will make an outstanding addition for a collection.
