Here is a brass padlock lock from the SAL (Seaboard Air Line) railroad . This line served the SE states and ran into Florida. Founded in 1900, it ended its name in 1967. This smaller lock was probably used for securing gates, tool lockers, storage areas.
This padlock was made by Yale, and stamped into the brass at the top of the lock body under the shackle is "HIGH GRADE PIN TUMBLER" The Yale name and info is stamped into one side of the lock, and the other side has "S A L" hand-stamped into it in a rather sloppy fashion. There are no other letters on the lock. It is just under 2-1/2" high and is very heavy for its size..
CONDITION- Fine. The lock has probably been cleaned some time in the past and is now a mellow brass color. There are a few slight dents along one edge and a few small spot-shape dents near the SAL name.
