Here is a steel switch lock with original chain but no key, from the CCC& STL (Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis) Railroad. The railroad ran under this name from 1889 until 1976. This padlock was made by Adlake, whose name is in raised letters on the keyhole drop arm. A patent date of 1920 is stamped into the back of the lot, dating it probably to the 1920's or early 1930s. If you push the drop arm away from the keyhole, you can see the number 132 is stamped right next to the keyhole There are no other letters on the lock.
CONDITION- Good.. The steel body has darkened but has little rust and it is surface, not deep.. The chain has the typical coating of rust..
