A gorgeous locket with a Sèvres style floral enamel painting serves as the design inspiration for this necklace. It was presented to me as an Art Nouveau compact - and indeed the reverse side is a beautiful Art Nouveau design. It may have been used as a compact for touching up makeup, but one has to also wonder if it could have been a dainty snuff box, replete with a mirror to check for any tell-tale signs of use. In any event, this mis-mash of style and potential uses has resulted in a charming and inspiring locket.
Richly colored teal apatite ovals have been hand linked with sparkling pink topaz rondelles flanked between creamy cultured pearls stationed along the chain - to form a necklace that repeats the colors found in the enamel front of this locket. Married together with the stunning locket - this necklace is certain to become the topic of conversation and speculation about it’s original use.
