This vintage carved bone Pikake necklace with a bold antique gold tone pendant is an artistic representation of the jasmine flowers that are used in the traditional Hawaiian Lei. Pikake, the Hawaiian name for Jasminum Sambac, is a delicate, exquisite bloom with a heavenly fragrance. The grace and beauty of the white flower made it especially appropriate for a bride's bouquet. The pikake beads are carved in doubles and arranged perpendicularly which not only gives the necklace a lush look, it also means that there is a flower bud visible from every angle. The top 3 1/2 inches on each side are bone beads joined with a screw in clasp. The pendant resembles a stylized version of the Hawaiian sun symbol and has a nice weight and feel. This necklace is strung on cotton and measures 26 inches, the pendant measures 3 inches by 1 3/4 inches and the necklace is in excellent vintage condition.
