This vintage Chanel Novelty eagle brooch with its dangling faux pearl, vibrant enamel work and diamante rhinestones is a wonderful piece of war time patriotic jewelry and a rare treasure. The details are awesome in this 1941 piece, the colorful blue, white, brown and yellow enamels are beautiful and the dangling faux pearl finishes this big, bold brooch to perfection. In excellent vintage condition, it is 75 years old, this pot metal pin measures 3 inches by 2 inches and is signed Chanel in script. According to Brunialti's American Costume Jewelry: Volume I, page 78, The Chanel Novelty Company became Reinad in 1941 after Coco Chanel sued and won the sole use of her surname. Jewelry signed "Chanel" in script is very rare, that mark was used in the spring of 1941then discontinued by court decree. I've collected Chanel Novelty Co. brooches for a very long time and this is the only one of its kind I have ever seen.
