This vintage Deco Baltic amber necklace with natural butterscotch beads with a sterling silver hook and box clasp has been in the family for generations. The color is a rich glorious butterscotch with honey to cognac variations that are positively radiant. The necklace measures 15 1/2 inches and has individually knotted graduated beads, the largest measures 17.1 mm, the smallest measures 10.6 mm and the necklace weighs 23.6 grams. There is one scuff and nick, pictured, and an ever so slight rub on another bead, there are no other significant issues to mention. The clasp is marked "Sterling" and is the box type popular in the 1920s - 1930s. This passes the salt water test, the static electricity test and has also been tested and weighed by my jeweler. This is an exceptional amber necklace, the beads feel luscious and natural and it is lovely and warm to wear. Amber is a fossilized resin and is believed to have marvelous metaphysical properties to promote heath and well being, what could be better.
