This vintage 1980s black strapless dress is a stylized version of John Paul Gaultier's bullet bra dress worn by Madonna, the penultimate Material Girl. Reinterpreted to wear in the real world, the conical top and the tight ruching on the bottom have been softened to create an elegant and sophisticated silhouette. This dress was made to measure for me in a black crepe georgette that drapes and wears beautifully. Stacy's of NJ, the specialty shop that made the dress, employs European trained seamstresses with the amazing skills required to do this type of sewing. The dressmaker details are superb, note the lining and the inner under bust strap that adds support to the expertly tailored, lightly boned top. This dress is in excellent, worn once, condition and measures 34 - 27 -34 and is 29 inches long from the top of the side seam to the hem, please compare the measurements to a well fitting dress of you own to assure fit. Jean Paul Gaultier, fashion's perennial bad boy, has lately revisited his past designs and has promoted an 80s Revival as a new look. If you're ready for an edgy, back to the future look, this is the dress for you.
