This American sterling cigarette case by R Blackinton & Co was made in the USA and has a hammered finish and a gold wash interior and is engraved H C D. Beautifully chased on the inside, and in excellent vintage condition, it is hallmarked on the inside spring loaded holder with Sterling and R B and Co. and is marked 9062. This beauty measures 5 1/2 inches by 3 1/4 inches and weighs about 6 ounces on my postal scale, it was too heavy for my gram scale that maxes out at 100 grams. The hinges are perfect working order, it closes very securely and comes with its original dust cover and Bailey Banks and Biddle box. The monogram can be removed and replaced with your initials. This is a superb example of American sterling, the R Blackinton Company of North Attleboro Massachusetts was in business from 1862 to 1967 and was known for producing top quality silver goods. This is a wonderful accessory, in exceptional condition, any perceived imperfections are shadows or reflections. This case can be used for smokes, business cards or to carry cash. I have one that was turned into a pendant necklace. I think it would make a stunning evening purse as well, it's a great piece.
