This vintage Mimi Di horse buckle and earrings gold plated set is fabulous. love Mimi Di Niscemi and I love horses and I did quite the happy hop when I found these terrific Mimi horses way back when I was still living in NYC and just starting to learn to ride. I never even wore these, just kept them with my growing collection of horsey things. Well, that collection has reached critical mass and it's time to let someone enjoy wearing these beauties. The buckle and earrings are in near mint condition, apparently just looking at them inflicts no damage. The buckle is signed Mimi di N and 1979, and measures 3.25 inches by 1.25 inches. The clip earrings are signed Mimi di N and measures 1.375 inches by .50 inch. The buckle will accommodate any 1 1/4 inch belt. I do have a selection of Mimi belts that I've never worn, you may pick the color of your choice. This would be the perfect gift for the horse lover in your life.
Note: Mimi Di Niscemi belt buckles have a permanent display at the Yale University Museum of the Decorative Arts of the 20th Century. The red belt pictured is a prop and is not included. Mimis are not abundant and in Collecting Costume Jewelry 101,on page 238, Julia Carroll writes Mimi began her own company creating jewelry out of metal that is as beautifully finished as if it were made from sterling or gold. Some of the 1970s pieces are both signed and dated.
