This vintage Danish cuff bracelet is huge and fabulous, the center medallion depicts a busy village scene accented by a beaded and framed border decorated with laurel leaves. I believe this cuff is silver plated brass and the high points of the centerpiece have been rubbed to expose the base which accentuates the dimensionality and gives it a two tone, silver and gold look. The raised center work was either repoussed or die struck, regardless, the detail is excellent and the bracelet is signed MADE IN DENMARK. The cuff is in wonderful vintage condition, the finish has a lightly hammered look and lovely patina with a uniform amount of surface wear that adds to its authenticity. This was hard to photograph, especially the signature, any spots or shadows are reflections only. The cuff is a massive 2.5 inches wide at center and the back has a 1 inch opening and there is some size flexibility since the metal can be manipulated to customize fit. It wears beautifully and is a well balanced 2 ounces on my postal scale. If you like the glamazon look and are a fan of bold jewelry this is a great piece at a great price.
Curiously, while researching this piece I found strikingly similar cuffs signed Carl Frederik Sorensen-Jelling in sterling and and JORGEN Th. STEFFENSEN in silverplate, two well know names in Danish jewelry.
