This long, slender Milliners’ Model stands 17 inches tall. She is all original, with the exception of her pantalettes, made in Germany during the latter part of the 19th century. Paper mache shoulder head with molded painted curls is mounted on a firmly stuffed white leather body, gusseted at the shoulders, with attached painted wood arms, hands, legs and feet. Wonderful painted yellow slippers and white evening gloves. Original red bands at the top of the arms and legs.
This lovely lady is in good, clean condition, with expected wear. The tip of her nose is scuffed and her face paint and hair show wear. There are several tight cracks emanating up from the lower edge of her shoulder head, a crack extending up one shoulder, a small area of finish loss at the top of one shoulder, and overall paint crackling. Both of the upper thighs have been reinforced with bands of new leather (hidden beneath her undergarment). The original body is very good, with supple leather and no cracks or leakage. Her wooden appendages are also very good, with very light scuffing and paint wear.
I love the serene expressions of these early fashion models. I hope that this lovely lady will add her special glamor to your collection.
