Wonderful set of 3 all bisque Kewpie-type flapper dolls, still stitched into their original box, circa 1920s. These darling wide-eyed flapper girls are each dressed in a different color. The largest, measuring 6-inches tall, has frozen arms and legs. She wears a pink bathing costume made of wrapped silk embroidery floss, and has a molded painted blue hair band. The two little sisters each measure 3-1/2 inches high and have strung jointed arms. They wear little skirts of orange and green gathered ribbon, respectively, with matching painted straps. Both have pink flapper bands. All three girls have brown painted slippers.
The hand-painted faces are so cute, with wide side-glancing eyes (the largest with dark painted lashes), surprised eyebrows, pink cheeks and coral lips. Each face is unique. All three dolls are in very good condition -- no chips, cracks, breaks or repairs. Colors are bright.
All three little dolls are firmly stitched inside the original box bottom, which measures 6-1/2 inches x 5 inches. Box is in good condition, with original colored paper covering; no tears, splits or stains. Original product number 5663 is stamped on the top end. Box bottom is stamped “Made In Japan”
