German bisque swivel head marked “D.R.G.M.” and “A. 3 M.” on ball-jointed composition and wood body. Smiling little girl doll stands18-inches tall with tight stringing, easy to pose. Pretty face with big brown glass sleep eyes, multi-stroke brows, painted upper and lower lashes, blushed cheeks and open mouth with 4 teeth. Some paint wear on eyelids visible when eyes are closed. Replaced mohair wig. Composition body is unmarked, jointed at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips and knees. In good, clean condition, with expected wear at joints. There is a tight crack at the back of the neck, and the pinky fingers on both hands are chipped at the tips.
Doll has been lovingly re-dressed. She wears a wine-colored corduroy coat with "fur" collar, matching bonnet and hand muff, over an off-white drop waist dress with wine-colored pleated skirt and off white sash, a lace-trimmed slip and leather slippers. The shoes and lace-trimmed slip may be original (both are unmarked). Newer dress is well made, clean and undamaged. Matching coat, hat and muff are vintage but not original to doll. Also clean and undamaged, with some wear to the faux-fur on the back of the collar. Silk lining on inside of coat has some small areas with shredding/shattering. One little shoe has a tear in the leather.
A very sweet little girl to display as-is or redress in clothing of the period.
