This humorous German trade card pictures 4 over-excited children behaving badly on Christmas Day. The new toys are already broken, the picture book is torn and one brother has beheaded his sister's doll and is capering with her head on a stick, much to the girl's consternation. The verse, printed in the lower left corner, reads: " Das ist des Schönen Loos auf Erden Ach, ruinirt muss alles werden." (That is our lot on earth Alas, everything beautiful has to be ruined.) The card advertises Liebig Company's Fleisch-Extract. The advertising on the back is printed in black and blue with the Liebig signature logo superimposed in blue. A wonderful little illustration to the left of the printed advert shows a little boy riding a hobbyhorse. This later period trade card is in very good condition with lots of detail and great color. It has a slightly glossy, smoother finish than the earlier cards. This card has minor corner bumps, as shown.
The card is untrimmed and measures approximately 4-1/8 inches x 2-3/4 inches.
