Salty and Peppy are vintage wooden shakers, circa 1950s, and are desperate for a place to call home. These hand-painted salt and pepper cat shakers have sad looking movable eyes that are pleading for that forever home. In the past when the salt or pepper shaker is turned over and shaken, the squeaker would make a “noise” or a squeak! Since these squeakers were known to not work very well, they became known as the never-to-squeak squeakers. These shakers do not disappoint! They do not squeak! But... your home might just be able to bring that "squeak" back into their lives.
The shakers have raised areas of paint to create a unique line design. These areas have a number of chips which is expected with the raised design, age and usage.
After unscrewing and removing the heads of the wooden shakers, it appears that the shakers may never have been filled with salt or pepper. “Squeaky” clean!
A picture of these Salty and Peppy shakers is featured on page 114 of “The Collector’s Encyclopedia of Salt & Pepper Shakers Figural and Novelty” by Melva Davern.
