This is an absolutely beautiful antique 14K cameo. The subject of this piece is: 'Hebe and the Eagle'. Hebe was the goddess of youth and cup-bearer to the gods. She was the daughter of Zeus and Hera, and is often depicted feeding the royal eagle belonging to her father. The cup she bears holds the nectar of eternal youth. This brooch which is Circa 1900 can also be worn as a pendant on a chain. It has the original bale which can flip up to accommodate a chain. The carving is the best I have seen. The detail of the woman's face and hair right down to the feathers on the eagle are amazing. It is set in a beautiful 14K gold frame and is in excellent condition. Please note that the bright spots in the photos are glare from the camera. It measures 2 5/8 inches by 2 inches. This cameo is unique in both subject, detail, and design.
