This is a very beautiful Circa 1870/1880 Victorian Hand Painted Porcelain Portrait Brooch. The oval portrait is of an elegant young woman with piercing blue eyes. There are two large curls from her blond hair that cascade over her shoulders. She is wearing a deep plumb colored dress and her head is tilted with a whimsical look. The frame is gold filled and has an intricate design of acorns, leaves and berries. It has an attractive patina and the original clasp. The porcelain measures 1 3/4 inches by 1 1/2 inches. The frame measures 2 1/8 inches by 1 7/8ths inches. This is a very elegant brooch in excellent original condition. A lovely example of bygone era.
