This is an exceptional 19th Century painting in a beautiful frame. The portrait is of a lovely young woman in a white lace dress holding the chain to a magnifying glass. The painting is executed by high artistic standards. It was common for members of the court and high nobility to have their portraits painted. The frame is also exquisite. The painting is oval and the frame around the subject concaves inward lending a great deal of depth to the entire piece. I cannot find a signature on the painting, however, there is a partial signature on the frame, please refer to photos. The image measures 3 ¼ inches by 2 ½ inches and the entire frame is 6 inches by 5 ¼ inches. This is a very beautiful portrait from a retired politician's Sacramento estate. He traveled the world and purchased this one in an antique shop in southern France. This is a great opportunity to own a great piece of original art at a very reasonable price.
