We are offering a beautiful 19th century French box with an oval portrait painting of Marie Therese Louise Of Savoy Carignan in the center. She was the Princess de Lamballe, (1749-1792). Everything about this box is quality. It has a very well executed portrait of the Princess in the center wearing a hat of flowing roses. Around the portrait and encompassing most of the cover is a champleve design. The metal box is signed France on the base. The inside is wood lined and the hinges to the cover are in excellent condition. The cover will snap closed tight. The box is bronze and has a French design around the champleve cover. The underneath bottom shows some minor indentations and scratches which would be normal wear for the age of the piece. It measures 4 ½ inches by 3 ½ inches and is 1 1/8 inches tall. This is a lovely vintage French box with historical significance.
