This is a beautiful Circa 1890 bronze Art Nouveau humidor box. This unique box has five separate village scenes in relief. The cover has children playing and fishing with mountains in the background and a frog on a pond lily in the foreground with cat in nine tails. The front of the box has a village scene of individuals gathering wheat and a mother and child on a cart being pulled by children. On one side is a scene of men and women harvesting and stomping grapes. On the opposite side of the box is a scene of men and woman picking fruit and the backside of the box is another scene of individuals pumping water at the well and watering the plants and vines. When the box is opened it has an original wood lined interior with an original metal insert on the inside of the cover that would keep the humidor moist. It measures 7 3/4" wide by 3 1/4" tall and 6 1/4" deep and weighs 5 pounds. This is really a rare and fine example from an elegant bygone era.
