This is an amazing diminutive antique jewelry box. It is Circa 1880 and intricately inlaid with Mother Of Pearl and an amazing inlaid brass design. The inlaid design covers the entire top and all four sides. It has a metal handle and retains the key. The wood is an exotic wood that we cannot identify, possibly rosewood. The cover lifts down revealing 3 interior drawers with metal pulls matching the handle and the interior of the cover with the same inlaid artistry. The construction of each drawer is meticulously dovetailed. The workmanship in this box is exceptional. It measures 6 3/4 inches wide by 4 5/8 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches deep. I cannot imagine the talent and time it took to create this little gem. There is no inlaid work missing or damaged. There is a small trim piece missing on the right side of the top and a small trim piece missing on the bottom left section. The key is included and the lock works, however, the cover due to age does not quite fit in close enough to lock. There are a few insignificant signs of age that are indicative and expected with an antique piece and do not detract in any way. This is an estate find that you would expect to see in a museum.
