This is a very beautiful and ornate sterling silver salt cellar. It is marked 925 for sterling silver. It is a wheeled chariot which is drawn by two horses connected by silver chain. At the top of the chariot is a winged cherub with one hand holding ribboned silver connected to the two horses and in the other hand he is sounding a conch shell. The wheels to the chariot turn and the detail is amazing. It also has the original cobalt blue glass insert which is removable. The entire exterior of the chariot is embellished with a raised floral design. The two horses are alive with movement as they pull the chariot. Even the feather wings on the cherub are heavily incised and the entire piece is very detailed. It measures 5 inches long from the horses head to the cherubs foot and the interior of the chariot is 1 1/2 inches wide. This beautiful vintage salt is most likely one-of-a-kind and in mint original condition.
