This is a fantastic antique monumental stein. The signature on this piece was used by Villeroy & Boch from 1894 to 1925 with the Delft painted mark. The stein is Circa 1900/1910 and measures 18 inches to the top of the pewter handle and 8 inches in diameter around the widest part. The stein weighs 7 pounds and is in mint original condition. On one side is the portrait of a muskateer raising a glass. The portrait is framed in a detailed floral wreath in Delft blue. On the opposite side is the portrait of another muskateer holding a glass. This also is framed in a floral wreath that is different on each side. On the opposite side of the handle is a mandolin with a stein and wine glass and floral motif. The signature on the base is V & B with an M underneath, also with painted and incised numbers, please refer to photos. This is a rare find and would be the centerpiece of a classic stein collection.
