Circa 1880 Impressive Victorian Stag Head Inkwell
This is an absolutely beautiful Victorian inkwell in the form of a magnificent stag head deer. The base is decorated in Autumn colors depicting leaves and acorns. The stag head is very detailed and the painting is exquisite accenting the eyes. The base has two riding quips over a stirrup that form the holder for the pen. The stag head is hinged and tilts back to open revealing the original glass insert. It measures 6 5/8 inches to the tallest part of the stag horns and 5 1/2 inches across the widest part of the horns and 5 inches across the diameter of the base. The inkwell is quite heavy weighing 2 1/2 pounds. This inkwell is in excellent condition and would be stunning on a gentleman's desk or the perfect gift for the sportsman. This is a very special piece that was acquired from a distinctive collection and would be the perfect accent piece in a study or den.
