This is a rare and one-of-a-kind antique French inkwell. It is made of heavy brass that is completely engraved with a very intricate and detailed design. The really amazing detail about this inkwell is the three colored cameo made into the cover. The cameo is very ornate depicting a winged cherub in a chariot driven by two magnificently carved horses. The inkwell is hexagonal shaped with two elegant arms that curve upwards to hold the pen. The interior retains the clear glass open inkwell. The piece measures 3 1/2" at the widest part of the base by 2 1/2" deep and 2 7/8" to the top of the brass pen holder. The cameo measures 1 3/4" wide by 1 1/4" deep. This rare and magnificent inkwell is in original condition. This is a rare find and would be exquisite displayed anywhere in your home.
