This is a very elegant example of French artistry from the 19th century. It is a beautiful brass or bronze champleve chamber stick. It has a flowing rococo design that encompasses the entire piece. In the center is a beautiful hand painted on porcelain scene of a lovely young milk maiden and cow in a farm yard setting and artist signed Boucher. The beautiful colors of the champleve enameling compliment the colors of the porcelain scene. Even the part that holds the candle are also enameled with an ornate design. It measures 8 3/8" long and 4" at the widest part of the design. The metal retains a beautiful patina that is only accomplished with age. It is in excellent original condition with the only issue to report is that at sometime in the past one of the small bun feet was replaced, please refer to photos. The chamber stick sits even and flat and would make a statement anywhere in your home. This is an exceptional piece from a romantic bygone era.
