This is a very exquisite antique enameled French box. The entire piece including the bottom is enameled with a woodland scene. The cover depicts two elaborately dressed seated lovers in a beautiful forest setting. It is artist signed on the cover, Gamet, please refer to photos. It has a vermeil interior which appears to be a gold wash on silver, although there are no marks on the metal rim or interior. The enamel work is perfect and it is in untouched original condition. It measures 1 1/2 inches tall by 2 3/4 inches across the diameter of the cover. This is an absolutely superb example of French enamel artistry with even the lace on her dress having a raised design. A lovely example of superior artistry from an elegant bygone era.
