This is an exceptional piece of Loetz. This pattern is called Marmoriertes and was produced by Loetz in 1890. At that period of time, Loetz was experimenting with glass in an attempt to create the appearance of marble. They succeeded and thus was born Marmoriertes. This is one of the finest examples of that period. The bowl has a fluted top that has an enameled gold leaf decoration with small hand painted delicate flowers in pastel colors. It is set in a very ornate metal armature with three winged figures that gently curve around the bowl and create a footed base. This piece has a polished pontil and shows only normal wear to the gold leaf on the inside rim. It measures 7 ½ inches wide and 5 ½ inches tall. This bowl is a work of art that will only increase in value. An excellent opportunity to own a fine early example of Loetz.
