Here is a lovely vintage set featuring a brooch and matching earrings. The set was made by the Charel Jewelry Company which was founded in 1945. They manufactured nice quality costume jewelry in Brooklyn, New York. Jewelry with this maker's mark is considered difficult to find today. Charel is best known for their Art Moderne Lucite line of jewelry of the 1950's, so this set is particularly rare.
The brooch and matching earrings are made in goldtone and has wonderful weight and feel. It is enhanced with a double row of clear crystal rhinestones and a secure rollover clasp. The matching clip-on style earrings replicate the brooch except they have a single row of rhinestones. Only the earrings are marked: "CHAREL".
The brooch measures approximately 2-1/4" X 1-1/4". The earrings each measure approximately 1-1/2" X 7/8". All pieces are very well-made and in very good condition with only a tiny bit of wear to the goldtone (mostly on the earrings) which is noticed upon close inspection. Otherwise, the pieces look great and all the rhinestones are present and sparkling. Pricing here is adjusted lower with the slight wear in mind.
This beautiful set could rival some of the best known makers such as Boucher or Trifari.
