We are pleased to offer this beautiful sterling silver (tested to confirm) fish serving set. The two piece set includes very large and substantial fork and knife/server. Booth pieces are marked on the narrow part of the back of the handles: "F.R. REICHEL S.F. CAL". This is the mark for Frederick R. Reichel, 620 Merchant St, San Francisco, California. He began making sterling silver flatware in 1861. He passed away in 1867. The business continued to exist, and was run by Gotthard Koehler and Charles A. Ritter, "Successors to F.R. Reichel".
On the back of both handles is written in script: "H.M. Warren. from his Aunt Nora, Sept. 9, 1901".
Both pieces are exquisitely decorated on the blade of the knife/server and the tines and bed of the fork. The handles are less decorative yet equally beautiful and substantial. They are both monogrammed simply: "Webber". We could not find an official pattern name for these pieces.
The knife/server measures approximately 12"L x 2-1/2"W and weighs 119.1 grams or 4.20 ounces. The fork measures approximately 9-3/4"L x 2-1/2"W and weighs 92.6 grams or 3.27 ounces. The set is in very good condition.
