For your consideration, we are offering a wonderful Art Nouveau era pendant necklace. This piece is gold plate and features a beautiful double pendant.
The pendant is made in two parts. The larger and top piece is reminiscent of a butterfly with cutouts and wire scroll work. It is bezel set with a nice sized oval amber glass cabochon with faceted back. The stone measures approximately 9/16"H x 3/8"W. The smaller and bottom part of the pendant is also gold plate and bezel set with a smaller oval amber glass faceted stone with wire scroll work on top. This stone measures approximately 3/8"H x 1/2"W. The entire pendant measures approximately 1-1/4" W x 2" L, excluding the bale.
The chain is composed of rectangular links, much like an old watch chain and possibly added by the previous owner. There is a newer spring ring clasp (as we found the piece) closure on the chain. The entire chain measures approximately, 24"L.
The pendant necklace has not been polished and retains an aged patina. There is what appears to be dark grime, primarily around the bezel of the stones. This will clean off if desired (we were able to gently rub a bit of it off with a jewelry polishing cloth) but many of our buyers prefer to have these old pieces "as found". This is much more noticeable when looking at the pendant close up.
A very pretty necklace in very good vintage condition overall.
